Red Dwarf Welcome Home Dave party at The Aigburth Arms

After three million years smegging across space... Red Dwarf is heading 'Back to Earth' this Easter weekend with two brand new episodes.

To celebrate Red Dwarf's return, event specialists Purple Revolver invites fans to a fun-filled "Welcome Home Dave" themed party at Dave Lister's local - The Aigburth Arms.

The cult sci-fi TV sitcom's hero Dave, is a Scouser and the story has it that he was found as a baby in a cardboard box, under the pool table.

But some Dwarfers may not realise that the show's creators, Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, studied at The University of Liverpool, lived in Carnatic Halls and drank nearby at the pub.

They refer to The Aigburth Arms as Red Dwarf's birthplace as it was here that they used to spend hours talking through their idea of a sit com, set in space.

The pub was recently re-named 'The Victoria' but its unique place in sci-fi history must not be forgotten - and we are launching a campaign to commemorate the genesis of Red Dwarf with a plaque.

Purple Revolver's Welcome Home Dave party co-ordinator Angela Johnson said: "The return of Red Dwarf to our TV screens is something fans thought impossible.

"We want Dwarfers from far and wide to come together where it all began and welcome the Boys from the Dwarf Back to Earth in Lister's local.

"Where would he ask Holly to plot a course for when they get back... The Aigburth Arms of course.

"Lister makes many references to it in the show and we want to celebrate that.

"There will be some special surprises and guests on the night, but you'll have to watch this space for more details.

"The 'Welcome Home Dave' party is going to be a unique celebration of the best TV sitcom ever made.

"There will also be an optional fancy dress competition and a Red Dwarf themed quiz with smeg-tastic prizes to be won, and much, much more."

Tickets cost £5. Guarantee your entry to a Red Dwarf extravaganza. Your £5 also entitles you to an evening meal. In keeping with Lister's clapped-out tastebuds the menu will be curry (vegetarian option available).

For the Back To Earth episode schedule and cast blogs visit www.joindave.co.uk

There will be a small number of tickets available on the door but will not entitle you to your free curry.

All proceeds to be donated to the James Bulger Red Balloon Learner Centre Appeal.
