Liverpool Genting Club in Queen Square was opened by Robbie Fowler on Saturday after undergoing a large scale refurbishment.

Fowler cut the ribbon to re-launch the club after raising £3,000 in the cash cube for Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

The club was re-launched after an investment of more than £2m by Genting on the refurbishment of the venue with a whole host of new facilities.

The launch night included a variety of different entertainment including a competition to win a brand new mini.

The venue has a brand new restaurant and casino bar on the ground floor, Fahrenheit Bar and Grill.

The Fahrenheit Grill gives diners a new premium restaurant choice in the heart of the city with a new glass-fronted ‘theatre kitchen’, which enables customers to see in as their food is prepared.

A new luxury bar has also been created on the first floor. The 1880 Bar, named in memory of the year that Liverpool officially became a city, will serve classic cocktails, a full wine and champagne menu and beers from a range of brewers across Europe, Asia and the Americas.

The 1880 Bar also encompasses private VIP booths, plasma screens broadcasting a range of sports, a dance floor and DJ booth, and has been specifically designed to host a range of regular live entertainment.

Carole Poulson, general manager of Genting Club Queen Square, said: “The refurbishment is progressing very well and is already giving us a taster of just how stylish and multi-functional the new facilities will be.

"Fahrenheit Bar and Grill and The 1880 Bar are destinations in their own right and provide the perfect city centre location for new and existing customers to enjoy a top quality meal, drinks with friends and experience live entertainment."

The second stage of the refurbishment saw a new gaming floor with first class poker facilities to match the bar and restaurant.

The gaming floor has been expanded and now includes a range of casino games including Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat and a number of slots and Electronic Roulette machines.
