The Sterlings

Click Liverpool Live launched in style on Friday at one of the city’s top venues, The Masque, where three of Liverpool’s hottest bands took to the stage.

Kicking of the night in style was Reason For Treason who impressively brought their indie tunes to The Masque.

A genuinely engaging band with bucket loads of talent. Their indie flair is highlighted with tunes such as Lucy, and The Boys Were Right which mark Reason For Treason as a band to look out for.

Next up were The Arkanes, a band that is already making headway across Europe and the US; they will shortly embark on an American tour across University and College campuses.

Predominantly an indie band, however The Arkanes are not opposed to experimentation; tonight we see the band move away from an upbeat indie sound to songs with a slightly darker undertone - showing an experimental edge to the band.

Another thing that impresses about The Arkanes is even though the band only formed a couple of years ago they come across as a much more mature band who gel as though they have been together for years.

Headliners The Sterlings rocked the stage with their infectious brand of punk, having been recently signed to Liverpool’s mighty Anti-Pop label the band look headed for great things.

The Sterlings have a riotous live set that makes it impossible not to dance to; highlights include Last Man Standing which is a catchy tune that stays in your head for days, and a cover of Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire, which as you would imagine rouses the crowd into an all out sing–a-long, which rounded off an excellent night.
