Ever watched a zombie movie and tutted condescendingly as some idiot gets killed within the first 15 minutes? This is the show for you.
If you’ve already got your contingency plan in place, chances are you have way too much time on your hands.
If not, don’t panic, Dr Dale and co are here to talk us through the best course of action should the Zombie Apocalypse take us unawares, as those pesky undead so often seem to do.
This first in a series of seminars by Dr Dale and his team (comprising of doddering OAP Donald, straight laced Judy and the expendable Tristan), it is clear they have done their research - watched a lot of films and checked Wikipedia.
An amusing hour throughout which Zombology expert Dr Dale Seslick and his hardy bunch of quirky sidekicks act out possible scenarios and resolutions. How to utilise everyday objects as weapons, picking out likely panic zones to avoid and how best to choose your “safe zone”.
If you’ve never truly considered your weapon of choice for destroying a zombie’s brain, and find the whole idea silly, this probably isn’t one for you.
The tongue in cheek production is slightly amateurish in part, with performances lacking a key believability factor, for me, Dr Dale’s faux American accent was comparable to a bad impression of Loyd Grossman. But, that said, it is a very entertaining way to spend an hour, whether you’re a Zombie film veteran or not.
This talented gang are like a slick student revue, the characterisations well observed, with flashes of genius in much of the put downs and improvisation – but just not enough to prove outstanding.
Much audience interaction is shrewdly built on for laughs, and the topic has already proved so popular Dr Dale is to tour a second time with How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse: Reloaded at Edinburgh Festival this August.
