The thing about The Twilight saga is if you’re a man you are not going to get it. Not at all. Its pure oestrogen fuelled teenage girl fantasy happiness. Mills and Boon for the teenage market.

This is why I refused to let my father go to see New Moon, so I’ve hijacked his little blog that some people seem to read… apparently.

My Mum and I went to see New Moon at the Odeon in Liverpool One, where my friend Alex who works there, says is having its busiest week ever, not surprising really Twilight fever is gripping.

Girls with a romantic bone in their body or those who just likes a good a’ld bit of tripe once in a while to giggle about will just lurve it.

Everything has improved since the first movie in the series from grander sets to the acting as the characters have really developed.

The soundtrack is fantastic with bands such as Death Cab For Cutie and The Killers, they where really buying into the teenage market there the soundtrack released before the movie even hit the screens.

New Moon the second film based on the teen romantic fantasy novels by Stephanie Meyer is a massive improvement on the first offering in the series Twilight.

The same cast with Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen still sparkling palely and displaying classical beauty with his sculptured cheekbones and perfect manners.

Surely a perfect potential son in law apart from the obvious disadvantage of being a tad older at 108 years old, than Bella our unlikely heroine who is just coming up to her 17th birthday.

Bella played by Kirsten Stewart is a bit of a clutz to say the least always getting into trouble such as getting paper cuts or being thrown through glass tables in rooms full of vampires. Yes the girl does have a death wish. She is not a sensible role model for young girls in our culture obsessed with youth, beauty and staying slim.

But don’t let that or the ridiculous storyline put you off. This is a great girlie film with plenty to laugh at not least the reaction to the wealth of fit young males running about with their kit off.

Females in the audience were divided into those who fancied the Veggie Vampire or those who had the hots for the werewolf Jacob Black played by Taylor Launter boy has he grown up since Cheaper By The Dozen 2. Wow that werewolf has beautiful teeth and the body of a Greek Adonis. One of my best laughs (and there were many during the film) came when a poppet near me gasped audibly when he stripped. Fangirl delight.

New Moon is a feel good movie that’s doesn’t take itself to seriously. The plot is dramatic and full of dark turns but through it’s the same old tale of good, evil and unfulfilled love. Winner every time. I have a feeling every girl will have this on DVD in their collection of movies to watch with the girls when its released. Mum liked it too.

Cert 12A
