Super illusionist Derren Brown left the audience in sheer open-mouthed amazement after they witnessed his unfailing feats of memory and suggestion live on stage.
His latest tour adaptly titled 'Enigma' because of its puzzling and inexplicable occurrences was a master class in trickery designed to fool the unwitting viewers.
Tickets are still on sale for his tour, including his Liverpool Empire dates in March 2010. For further Derren Brown ticket information see; http://ticketsuk.at/clickliverpool?CTY=37&LID=db&DURL=http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/Derren-Brown-tickets/artist/933341
The ginger magician, who has always been a fan of audience participation selected his partakers by throwing frizzbies into the crowd, so to dispell any skeptics who may accuse of him using actors or stooges.
And Brown was keen to downplay his involvment in the actual tricks- which may be sleight of hand itself, instead letting the particpants believe they were making their decisions free from his mind control.
His personality also shone through managing to grab the attention of 1,800 strong crowd with his witty script and clever dialogue.
His more simpler tricks involved him guessing a playing card, the number on a dice and a randomly chosen time on a watch all of which were concealed in tinfoil.
While other larger stunts involved him putting the entire audience into a catatonic state- trying to induce a trace.
The finale of the show left me and friends dumbfounded to say the least and we were all left discussing how he had 'done it' for the entire journey home.
Before the end of the show, Brown appealled to the audience and journalists alike not reveal the contents of the show, but I would readily urge anybody to go see 'Enigma' to witness first hand his amazing illusions for themselves.
Rating 10/10
