Hundreds of excited children (and exhausted-looking parents) packed the Liverpool Empire to see this year's Christmas Pantomime Cinderella.

Presented by First Family Entertainment the much-loved classic fairytale was as enchanting as ever, as rags to riches Cinders, played by the lovely Liz McClarnon (Atomic Kitten) found her Prince Charming at the Scouse Festival.

Fairy Godmother (Coleen Nolan) turns mice into horses and a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage pulled by two real white ponies which brought an huge "ahhhh" from the audience.

Stealing the show are the ugly sisters Peaches (Peter Price) and Pixie (Pauline Daniels) who got the kids shouting and booing them and while their risqué humour was lost on the kids it drew plenty of laughs from the adults.

Buttons played by actor Shaun Mason was a kids' favourite, with his funny impressions and cheeky ways, and kept the youngsters spellbound by asking them to say "Alright Buttons" every time he appeared on stage.

There was a special appearance from Taylor and Elliot (who appeared on Sky TV's Got To Dance) from the Dolphin Dance Studio who had most of the adults choked with awe at their ballet performance of "Just The Way You Are" - the talent displayed by these two is fantastic.

Accompanied by a full orchestra the cast belted out well-known numbers such as Eternal Flame, Go Where Ever You Will Go, Gangnam Style, What makes you Beautiful and, of course, it would be rude with a Nolan in the house to miss: I'm In The Mood For Dancing.

With its sparkly scenery and twinkling chandeliers, frosted trees and grand staircase of the Palace, this production kept both the adults and the children entertained for just over two hours.

Directed by Jane Joseph, this production was littered with local references fit to please the Liverpool crowd. A spellbinding performance which hit all the right 'buttons' - it wouldn't be a panto without the famous lines "He's behind you" and "Oh No You're Not" - right through until Cinderella's magical happy ending. A rousing finale had the whole theatre on their feet as the cast blasted out the Blues Brothers "Shake Your Tail Feather"

Bursting with the 'wow' factor, this has to be one of the best Empire Pantos to date, and certainly makes you feel festive.
