Liverpool One Odeon Cinema's IMAX experience is a fascinating way to enjoy the latest films, as we discovered on a trip with my family.
I have always enjoyed going to the pictures with the family, so I was quite interested to see if an IMAX film would make much of a difference.
Upon entering one of Odeon's flagship cinema branches at Liverpool One we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who directed us to our seats for The Amazing Spider-man.
After getting served by a lovely lad called Josh who recommended Tango Ice Blasts for the kids and a couple of "adult drinks" for the wife and myself, we took the escalator to the very top floor.
It's only when you look around do you realise how large this cinema really is.
As we walked into the exclusive IMAX screen, we were shown to our seats which were large and luxurious and given the IMAX glasses.
The screen itself is nearly as large a four double decker buses and is floor-to-ceiling in height.
The overall effect was superb, I particularly liked how the screen curved and showed the film in another dimension then the sound kicked-in.
Unbelievable is such a understatement with its powerful state-of-the-art digital surround sound system.
The sheer magnitude of the sound and picture quality made this a film we all enjoyed.
Now for the film.
The Amazing Spider-Man - which seems to be to be heavily based on the cartoon version - is the story of Peter Parker, an outcast teenager in high school who was abandoned by his parents as a child.
Leaving him to be raised by his aunt and uncle, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the way he is today.
As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance.
Leading him to Oscorp and to Dr Curt Connors - his father's former partner.
Also a certain colourful arachnid makes a startling appearance.
As Spider-Man learns new powers and, helped by a Oscorp product (Spider-man's web fluid), is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard.
Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.
Also if you do go to see this film, hang on for the credits as there is an extra scene.
One thing I agree with the Odeon cinema is that IMAX offers the ultimate cinema experience
