The mixologists at the Hard Days Night hotel have created a Beatles themed cocktail menu that is a lot stronger than John Lennon's favourite tipple, a Brandy Alexander.
Using names that are inspired by Fab Four songs, their spiritual leanings and a take on the classic Christmas favourites, a festive drink in the four star hotel is a welcome treat.
The Hari Krishmas is inspired by George Harrison's time in India; a fusion of rich sherry and fruity madeira garnished with a dash of cream, ice and some spicy grated nutmeg.
Served in a brandy glass, this cocktail looks like a warming Christmas drink but, apart from the sherry, is almost tasteless.
On "Mad Friday", the first drink was a disappointment but along came the Very Merry Berries bringing a sharp, fruity and colourful addition to a glass-filled table.
Blending a selection of pureed winter berries with Hendrick's gin, apple and cranberry juice, the pleasant cocktail is finished off with a sparkle of edible glitter.
James Morris, Food and Beverage manager, said: "Christmas is not just the season of goodwill, it's the festive season to have fun and catch up with friends.
"We've given some old favourites like sherry and bourbon a modern twist to create a selection of truly delicious cocktails.
"We can't make them quick enough at the moment."
Possibly the best festive cocktail on the menu if Two of Us, a spiced rum and seasonal bourbon sweetened with vanilla sugar.
The only criticism of an otherwise great cocktail is the temperature of the dark spirits in this drink: ice cold when they are best warm.
The Long Long Long Snowball is the family home favourite with a little twist; an addition of vanilla flavoured Dutch liqueur advocat.
The four limited edition winter cocktails at Bar Four at the Hard Days Night Hotel are priced at £8.25 and are available throughout December and January.
