If the brazen twins, Nathan and Daniel Sims, from Chris Lilley’s Angry Boys were to start a band it most likely would be something similar to Dangerous!
This is not just a lazy comparison because they are both Australian; it is because they are both Australian, funny and hard to dislike in a lovable scamp sort of way.
However, Dangerous! are unintentionally funny, when the singer says, in all seriousness, the next song is called nightmare and the lyrics go: night…mare! It is hard not to laugh; there’s also the constant fuck yeahs, or his pleas for the crowd to “jump the fuck up and jump the fuck down”, then to “make some fucking noise.”
In fact they say fuck so much even Gordon Ramsey may be inclined to wash their mouths out! But still, it’s all kind of juvenilely funny.
Dangerous! are currently signed to Epitaph records and seem to be making some waves.
They’ve got a heavier sound which is always refreshing, and their current single Not One of You is a catchy one, one that stays ingrained in the memory for quite a while.
And to give them their dues the venue wasn’t exactly packed out and it is easy to underestimate how hard it must be to go on-stage and play in front of a handful of people; yet the band gave it their all and played as though they had a full house.
It is also easy to forget how much confidence and charisma it takes to play in a band and be able to hold the crowd’s attention, yet Dangerous! manage to do this with ease.
They are either natural performers or they have gigged so much that they have simply acquired this confidence. Either way Dangerous! was the highlight of the night.
