Liverpool’s first ever official Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Pride Festival is just 13 days away.

And organisers are in the process of recruiting a small army of volunteers to ensure the weekend of Sat 7th & Sun 8th August runs as smoothly as possible.

On Sat 7th August, the city will transform into a Rainbow Circus with a massive celebration taking place around Liverpool’s gay quarter.

Following a march around the city centre, the Dale Street area will be closed off all day for the glittering Pride street party including three circus themed stages featuring cabaret, acoustic and headliner performances from an exciting line up of artists and celebrities.

Sunday 8th August sees the city’s arts venues spring into action with a plethora of talks, films and exhibitions running as part of Chill Out Sunday.

Chill Out sunday also sees the first Liverpool Pride Sports day, which takes place at Lifestyles Wavertree, giving Pride goers the opportunity to get active and get involved in games and tournaments including 5 a side football, rounders and water polo.

The Rainbow Ringmaster needs you to be a part of the Rainbow Army and help us make Liverpool’s first official Pride festival a success.

You’ll be given a free t-shirt, free food once you finish your shift and access to a super exclusive after show event with DJs and performances.

If you would like to volunteer ask yourselves these questions:

Do you want to make history by working at Liverpool’s first official Pride festival?

Do you want to get closer to all of the exciting Pride action than the general public?

Are you up for a little hard work with maximum rewards?

Do you consider yourself a Culture Vulture or have a passion for sports?

Do you want to meet new people, whilst gaining experience of working at a large scale outdoor event?

If the answer is yes then Liverpool Pride has a job for you!

Once registered you'll need to come along for one of the Pride volunteer training sessions where you'll find out more about Liverpool Pride and how you can get involved.

The training sessions will be held at:

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service HQ, Bridle Road, Bootle, Merseyside, L40 4YD.

2pm - 4pm, Sunday 25th July 2010
4pm - 6pm, Sunday 25th July 2010
4pm - 6pm, Monday 26th July 2010
6pm - 10pm, Monday 26th July 2010

and Parr Street Studios, 33-45 Parr Street, Liverpool, L1 4JN

2pm - 4pm, Saturday 31st July 2010
4pm - 6pm, Saturday 31st July 2010

The Liverpool Pride volunteering programme is kindly supported by Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Service (LCVS) and Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service.

Before 2010, Liverpool was the largest city in the country that hasn’t had its own official pride festival.

At the launch of the LGB&T Network the public voted for a pride festival to engage, empower and involve the LGB&T communities within the city and this was fully endorsed by Liverpool City Council in January 2009.

Liverpool Pride 2010 will celebrate the diverse community of one of Europe’s leading cultural cities.
