Aspiring dancers from the Liverpool region are hoping to prove that Liverpool's got talent when they take part in the British Red Cross' Dance for Life competition.

The competition is supported by dance group sensation and Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity, and invites young people aged 18 and under to choreograph a dance routine that reflects aspects of life saving work by the Red Cross.

Groups across the region have also been fundraising in their local communities in the lead up the event as well as learning about humanitarian action through Red Cross workshops.

Senior community fundraiser Alexis Fairclough said: “Dance for Life is such a fantastic way of bringing communities together through dance, not only to raise valuable funds for the Red Cross to help people in crisis, but also to get young people thinking about and promoting humanitarian action.

"Come along for what should be Merseyside’s best dance event of the year!”

And last year's winners of hit TV show Britain’s Got Talent, Diversity added: “We are proud to support the British Red Cross Dance for Life project as it is a great opportunity for more young people to enjoy dance and performance.

"We hope you will be part of Dance for Life 2010!”

All groups who perform will be commended for their hard work with an award that recognises the standout highlight of their dance, and a panel of three judges will select an overall winner in each of the categories, junior and senior.

The event will take place at Chameleon Theatre at Parklands CLC in Speke, Liverpool on Saturday 17 July from 6pm.

Tickets are only £6 and can be bought by contacting Alexis on 0151 702 5061 or afairclough@redcross.org.uk.
