Budding young aspiring singers from across Merseyside will make a dream come true on Monday when they perform at the Liverpool ECHO Arena for Schools Supersing Liverpool.

The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will see youngsters from schools across Liverpool, St Helens and Knowsley unite to form one of the biggest choirs ever assembled in Liverpool for this rousing event, hosted by former Hollyoaks characters, ‘Max & OB’, aka actors Matt Littler and Darren Jon-Jeffries.

Schools’ Supersing Liverpool is presented by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, backed by Liverpool City Council through Culture Liverpool, Sing Up and Find Your Talent.

The event will be a fitting finale for the hugely successful Find Your Talent pathfinder in the Liverpool City Region which ran from September 2008 until Summer 2010.

The evening’s entertainment will see the colossal choir belt out popular songs including a High School Musical medley and music by The Beatles, backed by a live band including musicians from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Acclaimed choir Sense of Sound (as featured on BBC1’s Last Choir Standing) and the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir will also perform. The surprise turn of the night will be a unique teachers’ choir who are stepping up to build confidence and provide positive inspiration for their classes.

Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Tourism, Councillor Wendy Simon, said: "The excitement and energy at this concert will be an amazing and inspiring experience, and I’ve no doubt it will nurture many dreams.

"It may be a one-off concert but it is another great example of what can be achieved when we create a platform for people to showcase their talents."

The concert is the culmination of a year-long schools’ singing programme delivered through local Music Services in partnership with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Sing Up, the national singing programme.

Sing Up aims to place singing at the heart of primary school-aged children’s lives and provides online resources and support to help primary school teachers and parents to encourage children to sing every day.

The audience for this fantastic family event will be made up of proud parents, grandparents, siblings and family friends – indeed, anyone who enjoys a sing-a-long on a grand scale and wants to see the budding stars of tomorrow!

Executive Director of Education, Communities and Visitors at National Museums Liverpool, Carol Rogers, said, “In the last two years Find Your Talent has provided inspirational and life-changing experiences for thousands of young people, such as this magnificent singing event.

"We’re delighted that Schools’ Supersing Liverpool is giving children a chance to celebrate and share their achievements with friends and families. We hope that they will carry this enormously positive influence with them into the future and get involved in the rich array of cultural activity on offer for them in the region.”

Tickets are on sale now from Liverpool Echo Arena box office (www.echoarena.com, 0844 8000 400) and cost £5 (adults) and £3 (children and concessions).

Schools’ Supersing Liverpool is supported by Find Your Talent, Sing Up and Liverpool City Council through Culture Liverpool and managed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in partnership with Liverpool Music Support Service, Knowsley Music & Performing Arts Service, St Helens Music Service and Youth Music.
