The Liverpool Playhouse will welcome an innovative double bill from National Dance Company Wales next month, as part of the LEAP 2010 dance festival.

'Veil of Stars', by Andonis Foniadakis promises to engulf the stage and absorb the audience with boldly imaginative work showcasing the Greek choreographer's hallmark technical virtuosity and fluidity.

The seamless sophistication of the gripping work and the artistry of the dancers bring motion to emotion and delight the imagination.

New commission 'Romance Inverse' from Itzik Galili uses composer Steve Reich's 'Six Marimbas' and a new score commissioned from Percossa – the group responsible for creating the unforgettable music for Peeled which delighted audiences at the Playhouse in 2008 as part of MDI’s Capital Nights European Dance Festival.

The Netherlands-based choreographer uses boards on stage to create the space in which ten dancers move. Galili fans will enjoy references to his recent work Six and the way his elegant and eclectic style dares to challenge audience and dancer alike.

National Dance Company Wales Artistic Director Ann Sholem said: “It is great that we have Itzik coming back to work with us as he has become a firm favourite wherever we tour.

"Peeled has been loved by our audiences as far a field as Bilbao and Brecon, Milan and Mold, I am sure that the new work will be as captivating and exhilarating – something to really look forward to.

"We took Andonis’ dance Veil of Stars on our autumn tour and it amazed and thrilled audiences and critics alike.”

The two performances take place on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th March. For more information or to book tickets, visit www.everymanplayhouse.com.
