The Beatles' first manager, Allan Williams, celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday 21st February.
The man most famous for 'giving up' The Beatles, celebrated with friends and family at a bash at the Grosvenor Ballroom near his Wallasey home.
Originally from Bootle, Williams was helped launch The Beatles, and took the band personally to Hamburg, Germany, which fans regard as the gig that shot them to stardom.
Amongst wellwishers was Liverpool's Deputy Lord Mayor Cll Hazel Williams, who labelled him a "pioneering person".
She said: "I was absolutely delighted to attend Allan’s birthday party and celebrate with all his friends and family.
"I made a speech acknowledging the role he has played in the music industry. He was a pioneering person who left his mark and influenced the musical history of the area.
"He was behind the Merseybeat scene and kick started the Beatles career.
"A lot of people talk about Hamburg, but what they might not know is that Allan was the man who drove them there.
"He had a strong belief in the city of Liverpool and made a massive contribution to Merseyside which we should all be thankful for."
