When Paul McCartney penned the words to 'Penny Lane' there NEVER was a barber's shop in the world famous road.
But forty-three years on from The Beatles No1 hit, a barber has finally opened-up for the first time in Penny Lane itself
And barber Barry Hayden is even making the lyrics come true by displaying a picture of "every head he's had the pleasure to know"... on his online Twitter page.
And all the people that come and go CAN stop and say "Hello" by logging-on to Barry's Twitter site.
Since Penny Lane topped the charts in 1967, nearby barber Tony Slavin has taken the credit as the shop referred to in the song.
But his shop stands in Smithdown Place, opposite the "shelter in the middle of the roundabout".
Penny Lane gave its name to the area around the Penny Lane bus and tram terminus but the road itself has few shops.
Now that has changed since Barry, 44, opened his shop "The Barber's Penny Lane Liverpool".
He quickly found that he was doing a roaring trade from tourists who want to say they had their hair cut at the Barber's in Penny Lane.
Barry, a barber since 1973, said: "I knew opening a barber's in Penny Lane would remind people of the song, but I had no idea just how popular it would be with tourists.
"I've only been open a couple of weeks, but I've had customers from all over the world, from Brazil to Japan.
"It was one of my customers who gave me the idea for the Twitter site after he asked me to take his photograph to show his friends back home.
"That's when I thought what a nice idea it would be to take photographs of all my customers.
"I was just planning to show them on the wall of the shop, but my 16-year-old son is really into computers, and he showed me Twitter.
"It seemed like a great way to show the photos, and my customers seem to love it. People have started coming for a haircut, just because they want their photo taken in the famous shop.
"I can't believe how popular it has been. If it carries on like this I may have to take on extra staff."
