The Bishop of Liverpool James Jones is to look at the world "through the eyes of Jesus" in a series of Lenten talks.

Starting on Ash Wednesday (17th February ), Bishop Jones will deliver the talks on each of the six Wednesday evenings of Lent 2010.

The series will take us on a journey through John’s Gospel, to explore “the world today through the eyes of Jesus”.

Each week, Bishop James will examine Jesus’ perspective on contemporary issues such as our planet, suffering, beginning and end of life issues, science, belief and real community.

So many people in the world are seeking answers to the big questions in life and who would welcome the opportunity to hear about the perspective of Jesus. As well as teaching, there will be lots of opportunities to question Bishop James and discuss the important issues he raises.

Bishop James said “This is an opportunity for us to be able to share our faith with people who are on the fringe or who are seeking God trying to find answers to their questions.”

There is a widespread interest in spiritual matters and the church is always looking for ways in which we can proclaim the Gospel in a manner that is relevant to our contemporary society.

These talks will give much food for thought and will give Christians and non Christians alike much to consider. It may even change the way they see the world for good.

The World Today - Through the Eyes of Jesus takes place at Liverpool Cathedral from 17th February to the 24th March. Each talk will start at 7.30pm and are free to visitors. Car parking is free.

Bishop James will conclude the series on Good Friday with a meditation at the Cathedral. He will also be preaching the Good News of the resurrection in the main Easter Day service.
