As Ash Wednesday approaches, on February 17th, Bishop James has announced he will be exploring the world today through the eyes of Jesus at Liverpool Cathedral over the six Wednesday evenings in Lent.
The series will take us on a journey through John’s gospel, to explore “the world today through the eyes of Jesus”. Each week, Bishop James will examine Jesus’ perspective on contemporary issues such as our planet, suffering, beginning and end of life issues, science, belief and real community.
So many people in the world are seeking answers to the big questions in life and who would welcome the opportunity to hear about the perspective of Jesus. As well as teaching, there will be lots of opportunities to question Bishop James and discuss the important issues he raises.
Bishop James said: “This is an opportunity for us to be able to share our faith with people who are on the fringe or who are seeking God trying to find answers to their questions.”
There is a widespread interest in spiritual matters and the church is always looking for ways in which we can proclaim the Gospel in a manner that is relevant to our contemporary society.
These talks will give much food for thought and will give Christians and non Christians alike much to consider. It may even change the way they see the world for good.
The World Today - Through the Eyes of Jesus takes place at Liverpool Cathedral from 17th February to the 24th March. Each talk will start at 7.30pm and will be free to visitors. Car parking is also free.
Bishop James will conclude the series on Good Friday with a meditation at the Cathedral. He will also be preaching the Good News of the resurrection in the main Easter Day service.
