Liverpool’s official capital of culture card is to offer holders extended lifestyle discounts for the first time.
Merseyside residents will enjoy discounted shopping, dining, nights out, gyms and other lifestyle benefits.
More than 30 additional businesses across Liverpool have signed up to the card including Pizza Express, Debenhams, Coffee Republic and Lewis’s. Gyms, beauticians and hair salons including Executive Fitness and Epilight Clinics are also on board.
Exclusive competitions for VIP and money-can’t-buy prizes will also take place throughout 2010. The card will continue to provide special offers on events, theatre and concert tickets and savings on entry into attractions.
Cardholders will also benefit from unlimited free city centre travel on the C2, C3 and C4 bus routes.
The free card, which is run by lifestyle smartcard specialist Livesmart, was originally launched to support the European Capital of Culture year in a partnership involving Liverpool City Council and transport authority Merseytravel and is free and available to every Merseyside resident.
More than 100,000 people across Merseyside are members of the 08 Card scheme and the team behind the scheme are encouraging people to make the most of the new offers.

The 08 Card website will host details of offers and competitions and partner businesses will display card welcoming signs.
Silverberg Opticians is one of the many established businesses to offer cardholders special deals.
