Meet The Deans for a second time

A play which enjoyed a sold out run at Liverpool's Unity Theatre earlier this year returns to the city this weekend with two shows at the Contemporary Urban Centre.

'Meet the Deans' tells the story of a dysfunctional Merseyside family and stars Shameless star Tina Malone.

Scouse loud mouth Malone also directs the play which was written by Widnes born Kerry Williams.

Centering on the endearing story of a young girl who requires a heart transplant the family based plot manages to successfully mix emotion and comedy.

The double showing at the CUC, this coming Saturday and Sunday evening, will allow more theatre-goers to enjoy the home-grown script in a larger environment and it's something the cast has been looking forward to.

Liverpool born Robbie O'Neill who plays semi-professional footballer Fran in the production says the actors have enjoyed rehearsing and are confident that there will be a pair of rousing performances this weekend:

"The plays not necessarily a comedy but a comedy drama, it's hilarious for the most part, but there's moments in it that are bound to get the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end.

"Its a nice mix, and credit most go to Tina and Kerry for bringing the story to life with a cast of fine, local actors. Everyone has just clicked and rehearsals have been a dream."

Tickets are priced at £12 and are available from 0151 708 3510 or http://www.contemporaryurbancentre.org/events/event.php?event=58
