It's remarkable to think that despite three chart-topping singles, Eva Cassidy, one of the most successful acts in popular music of the last decade, achieved little acclaim during her own tragically short life.
The heart-breaking story of one of the most staggeringly beautiful voices on record is brought to life by Zoe Tyler, panellist on hit shows "Any Dream Will Do" and "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria", and a host on ITV's lunchtime favourite "Loose Women".
Eva, an overwhelmingly modest club singer from Washington DC, was unknown beyond her home city at the time of her death in 1996, aged just 33.
Little of Cassidy's career was ever captured on record, with only a handful of studio tracks and her exquisite live album "Songbird" ever released in her lifetime.
However posthumously, her success has been staggering worldwide, championed by BBC Radio 2 favourite Terry Wogan.
This remarkable recreation of Cassidy's life story features professional vocal coach Tyler as Eva, alongside David Paisley (Holby City & Casualty), and Donna Hazleton (Winner of Channel 4's Musicality).
A cast of world-class actors and musicians bring Eva's original arrangement to life, alongside dramatic scenes and original archive film footage.
Over the Rainbow: The Eva Cassidy Story, Crosby Civic Hall, Wednesday 18th November, 7.30pm.
Tickets are priced at £16 (£14 concessions), and are available from www.seftonarts.co.uk or from the box office, on 0151 928 1919.
