"Galleries Outside Liverpool" - worth seeing!

Art galleries and museums accross the Liverpool city region have united to promote the wealth of alternative cultural offerings

The five authorities covering Wirral, Halton, Knowsley, St. Helens and Sefton are linked as part of a Galleries Partnership.

Supported by Arts Council England, through ‘Galleries Outside Liverpool’, the partnership aims to engage new audiences across the region and showcase art galleries and arts centres through collective marketing and audience development.

The partnership also collaborates in co-curating exhibitions and developed a pan-Merseyside Open Art Exhibition programme for 2008 and into the future.

The partnership aims to raise the profiles of the galleries such as the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum outside their own boroughs, by drawing the attention of a wider audience to their annual exhibitions and events programme.

As part of the project the ‘Galleries Outside Liverpool’ team is launching their new brochure and website at this year’s Buy Art Fair held at Urbis in Manchester City Centre from the 24th to 27th September.

The Buy Art Fair is one of the largest consumer art exhibitions in the country and will showcase over three floors more than 80 galleries and work by hundreds of artists.

In addition the fair offers a whole host of free activities including art talks, children’s activities and book signings.
