Pop and entertainment memorabila to be valued

Bonhams the auctioneers are offering the chance for people to have ther "entertainment memorabilia" valued in a special open day on Merseyside.

Bonhams will stage the events at during October in Southport the town has proved of vital importance to the history of Popular Music with many of the greatest musical artists of all time forming bands or performing in the area.

The Beatles alone played in Southport over 6 times during 1963 and the questions being posed as "Were you there?" "Did you meet the Beatles, the Stones or Jimi Hendrix?"

During the course of the valuation day Bonhams will be looking for concert posters, autographs, previously unseen photographs, merchandising, programmes, items which previously belonged to stars, as well as film posters, props, costumes and memorabilia.

In recent years Bonhams have sold important items originating from Lancashire including - a promotional handbill for the Beatles at the Odeon, Southport, from August 1963 for £775; George Formby's Abbott 'Monarch' banjolele for £72,000; and a scarce Jimi Hendrix Experience flyer, for the Imperial Ballroom, Nelson, 6th May 1967, for £840, to name but a few.
