One of Britain's most legendary groups are back on tour and coming to the Live Lounge on Wednesday 17th December.
Chaz Jankel, Mick Gallagher, Norman Watt-Roy, John Turnbull, Dylan Howe, Gilad Atzmon and Derek The Draw are The Blockheads and will be serving up their legendary mix of Britfunk.
As well as songs from their soon to be released Staring Down The Barrel album. you can also expect all the great classics including Reasons To Be Cheerful Part 3, Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick, Clevor Trever, I Want to Be Straight, What A Waste and many more.
The Blockheads were formed in 1977 to promote Ian Durys' album 'New Boots and Panties' on the first Stiff Records tour of the U.K. Chaz Jankel, Norman Watt-Roy, Charlie Charles, John Turnbull and Mick Gallagher became known as 'The Blockheads' (a reference to a song on Ian's album).
The peak of their career was in 1979 when they released the massive anthem "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick", which went straight to number 1 in the UK charts. In March 1996 Ian Dury was diagnosed with cancer. The last performance by Ian Dury & The Blockheads was February 6th 2000 at The London Palladium. Ian died at 9am on 27th March 2000.
Live Lounge is a brand new live music night based at Baby Blue in Liverpools Albert Dock and has already announced an eclectic mix of live bands and acts of both national and international status.
In December The Blockheads will join new Punk-folk band Adrian Edmondson & The Bad Shepherds on Sunday 14th December, Boogie Woogie pianist Ben Waters on Tuesday 16th December and the legendary soul act Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band on Sun 21st December.
