Bingo caller to release pop single

The bingo world has spawned a welcome threat to Simon Cowell’s reign over the music industry, after a bingo caller from Wallsend has announced plans to release his own pop single. Everyone Wants A Piece Of Me is soon to be released across digital music giants Amazon and iTunes, and Wayne McFarlane has compared his recent good fortune to winning the X Factor, calling it ‘a dream come true’.

Soulful Wayne has always enjoyed singing, and was a regular at his local karaoke bar, Last Orders. But he couldn’t have known that this would result in a massive career change, after singer and music producer Dave Turner heard his performance in the bar and approached him to discuss the possibility of a record release.

Dave is a seasoned producer who has already had a number one hit in Barbados. His charity single Say Goodbye sold 230,000 copies worldwide following its release earlier this year, raising funds for war veterans’ charity Help For Heroes. The single hit the top spot across the Caribbean and stayed there for two weeks, which Wayne is doubtless hoping will be repeated when he releases his single in the UK.

Aside from Wayne, Dave also managed to find the female vocalist of his dreams in Last Orders, on the same night! Jessica Woods had also visited the bar and was in the middle of performing while Dave was chatting to Wayne. Excited by the prospect of two singers on his books Dave asked Jessica to join Wayne on the new single and the resulting duet has given both a taste of what the limelight is like.

Now, Wayne and Jessica are busy promoting Everyone Wants A Piece Of Me, an upbeat duet that talks about the pressures of being in demand, and has more than a hint of Take That about it. Wayne has been appearing on radio stations across the country as he promotes his new single and is already getting in plenty of practice for the glitzy interviews that are sure to lie ahead.

Down-to-earth Wayne has spoken of his disbelief at the turn in his fortunes, calling himself ‘an ordinary bloke’ who never thought his karaoke hobby would turn into anything serious. He’s also discussed how he initially thought Dave was joking when he approached him, especially since it was so out of the blue; luckily Dave was able to talk him round!

But while Wayne may be dreaming of leaving the bingo hall in favour of the bright lights of stardom, he may find that he won’t have to give up the game completely. Online bingo has seen a new rise in popularity, with the Global Betting and Gaming Consultants estimating that the average player now spends around 26 days a year playing the game on the Internet.

With the game currently so popular, it seems unlikely that Wayne will be able to avoid it forever and we think it won’t be too long before he’s popping up on websites across the web to try his hand at the game; old habits die hard, after all. And with the prevalence of opinion websites such as Bingo-Reviewer online bingo reviews are available 24/7, meaning he’ll easily be able to compare websites and choose his favourite.

However Wayne does in the pop charts, he can be sure that his confidence and cheeky charm is likely to carry him far in life. Anyone who’s ever visited a bingo hall knows how self-assured and assertive the callers can be, and we’re sure Wayne is no exception. With these skills (and of course, an encyclopaedic knowledge of the slang words for different numbers), it won’t be too long before Wayne is making his mark somewhere in the world. Mr. Cowell must be praying that it won’t be the pop charts.
