Writer and TV broadcaster Cherry Healey is backing the new O-Very campaign launched by North West Cancer Research.
Best known for her insightful documentaries on BBC Three, Cherry is supporting the drive to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.
Although Cherry has tackled many problems - incuding parenting, dating, and body dilemmas - women's health is fairly new to her.
She said she was shocked to hear it kills almost 4,400 women every year.
Cherry said: "Whilst breast cancer is talked about quite openly, there is still a reluctance to talk about 'womens bits', especially amongst the older generation.
"However, genes causing ovarian cancer can be passed down through families so the more we learn to talk about it the more cases we can diagnose and hopefully cure.
Cherry will help promote the charity over a five month period, as well as taking part in various fundraising events across the country.
It is hoped by her involvment, more women will be encouraged to host fundraising parties on O-Very Day, on Friday 2 March.
