Members of one of Liverpool’s most successful bands of the 90’s, The Farm, are to officially start off a major charity walk around Sefton Park.
The ‘All Together Now’ singers will begin proceedings as hundreds of walkers gather for a Midnight Candle Walk in aid of two major local charities – Claire House Children’s Hospice and Clatterbridge Cancer Research.
Also helping get walkers in the mood and hosting the event will be Jay Hynd and Claire Simonsen, best known for Radio City’s Rossie and Co Breakfast Show.
Walkers will assemble on the 11th of November at 11pm to celebrate the recovered and the recovering and remember those they have loved and lost.
Carol Finlayson from West Derby said: “I’m walking for my mum who lost the battle with cancer 16 years ago.
“Unfortunately I know many people who have been touched by this disease, but I also know many people who have won the battle and are in remission and this is due to the investment in cancer research. I’m walking for everyone’s future.”
The walk is one of the most important landmark events for both Claire House and Clatterbridge Cancer Research. As well as being a key fundraising event, it brings people who have been touched by cancer and other life-limiting conditions together to do something positive.
Both charities are delighted that members of The Farm have offered to help. Their famous hit song will be featured as they cut a ribbon to start off the walk.
Clatterbridge Cancer Research’s Events Fundraising Manager Cath O’Grady said:”’All Together Now’ is the perfect inspirational song to set our walkers on their way. We’re all very grateful to The Farm for giving us their support.
“It’s going to be quite an event this year and we’re hoping for a record number of walkers – especially as we’ll be raising money for two causes which are particularly close to people’s hearts.”
