A new internet initiative is set to showcase Liverpool’s finest performing talent.
The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts has joined up with BOBCOM, an online music community, to announce the launch of The 2ube.
Set to be broadcast live and exclusive each month via BOBCOM’s website, The 2ube will provide a platform for students of LIPA to show off their talent online.
The show launches on 28th October and kicks off with an interview and performance from headline act Pearl and the Puppets as well as performances from LIPA bands Laura James and Kodiak.
Each programme is set to be streamed live from 5pm to 7pm with fans being able to watch the show back on the BOBCOM YouTube channel.
Head of Music at LIPA Martin Isherwood said, “Music at LIPA is committed to developing new artists and helping them enter and survive in the tough world of music.
“We have been looking at new ways in which we can showcase live new music on-line as part of the curriculum for a number of years now.
“I believe BOBCOM's platform, as well as their status as a visionary webcaster supporting original talent with a strong educational emphasis, is a perfect fit for us.”
Co-founder of BOBCOM Michael Feeney Callan added, "BOBCOM is not yet a year old but the landmarks are already significant.
“To team up with such a prestigious institution as LIPA is a great honour. Like everything we do, this is about using the best possible tools to provide a platform for original talent.
“The internet has revolutionised music and artists are empowered now in creation and distribution in a way they never were.
“We are determined to support the kind of changes that give greater scope to new artists and a wider expression to creativity in our culture.
“There's a wealth of extraordinary talent at LIPA, which we are privileged to support and showcase.
“We believe, too, in the educational value of the web and are committed to utilise our resource to encourage innovation and experimentation.
“LIPA shares this philosophy and this alliance therefore creates an important new window for both institutions to continue to champion the new.”
