Plans for the new superstore in Birkenhead

The search is on for a local hero to open a new Asda superstore in Birkenhead.

The shopping giant is searching for a member of the community to cut the ribbon and open the doors as a VIP guest.

Friends and family can nominate whoever they think goes that extra mile for someone they care about, or makes life in the community better.

Nominations can be made up to Wednesday 19th October by writing to: Asda Birkenhead hero, 3rdfloor, 52 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 6JX.

New store manager, Gary Bruce, said: "At our new Birkenhead store we will work hard to be a good neighbour and we know that many of our customers are tireless in their efforts to support the area.

"That is why we want to celebrate their work and make sure that a real local hero opens the store."

The winner will enjoy a £100 gift card and will officially open the new store in November.

The new Asda Birkenhead store will feature two levels of parking, including an access bridge direct to the shop floor from the top deck.

It will also include a customer café, pharmacy, George clothing department and everything needed for a full weekly shop.

Customers will also be able to use the Asda Price Guarantee (APG). This will allow shoppers in Birkenhead the chance to compare the price of their shop with competitor supermarkets and if Asda isn’t 10% cheaper, it will refund the difference.
