The music venue Eric's has announced a new line-up for the winter season which includes a performance from Grammy award-winning guitarist Jim Lauderdale.

The US born country and western artist featured in the Gwyneth Paltrow film 'Country Strong' as a member of her band and with her for the 2010 Country Music Awards.

He has also supported Birkenhead-born rocker Elvis Costello, providing his signature bluegrass sound that won him the coveted Grammy in 2003.

When he was a teenager in North Carolina in the 1970s, Jim aspired to be a tenor-singing, banjo-playing bluegrass musician.

The banjo fell by the way-side as did much of the tenor-singing. But he has recorded 20 albums including this year's 'Reason and Rhyme' released on Sugar Hill Records.

He appeared at Austin City Limits three -day music festival in Texas in September and performed on stage with ageing legend Willie Nelson last year.

Jim Lauderdale will perform at Eric's on Monday 14th November and tickets are £10.

Liverpool band The Fallows will offer their fierce and melodic rock and roll sound that earned them a place at Chester Rocks in July on the same bill as Iggy Pop & The Stooges.

The four-piece band, whose latest single Lazy Eye is now available for download on iTunes, play Eric's on Friday 18th November with support from Super-Cannes and Get Back Colquitt.

After 20 years, ten studio albums, five greatest hits compilations, thirty-four chart singles, 15 million record sales worldwide time was called on The Beautiful South in 2008.

But lead singer Dave Heaton, who was once in The Housemartin's with a pre-Fatboy Norman Cook - returns with a new name, The South.

Fellow Beautiful band mates Dave Hemingway and Ali Wheeler will join him to perform new tracks and classic's like ‘Song For Whoever’ and ‘Perfect Ten' on Friday 2nd December.

On Saturday 3rd December Altered Images will perform a hotly anticipated rare gig.

One of the brightest stars in the 80s new wave sky, Altered Images are best remembered for their number one single 'Happy Birthday' and bubbly lead singer Claire Grogan.

She started her 30 year long career as a schoolgirl popstar, by day studying for her A Levels and at night toured with Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Altered Images also played festivals alongside Echo And The Bunnymen, The Human League, U2 and recorded sessions for the legendary DJ, John Peel.

After an 18 year gap in performing with Altered Images, Clare was persuaded to sing their hits again. It promises to be a great night.
