The world’s first dual, anamorphic 3D work of pavement art - featuring The Beatles - has been created in Liverpool city centre.

The massive 24m long by 6m wide work, entitled ‘XXL Liverpool’, has been commissioned by City Central Business Improvement District to celebrate the dual 50th anniversary of The Beatles first gig at The Cavern Club (February 9 1961) and them meeting their manager Brian Epstein (November 9 1961).

The head turning images in Church street have been created by artist, Juandres Vera, from Mexico along with ‘Dutch masters’ Leon Keer, Ruben Poncia, Remko Van Schaik and Peter Westerink.

The artists, used the anamorphic technique associated with Han Holbein’s ‘The Ambassadors,’ and the event was part of the James Carling International Pavement Art Competition which was staged over the weekend.
