A popular French restaurant chain in Liverpool has gone green in a bid to become more eco-friendly.

Owners of Bistro Franc, Bistro Jacques and Bistro Pierre have ditched their traditional deep red colour scheme to show they are campaigners to save the environment.

Bistro Qui?, a family-run business established in 2003, have installed energy saving lightbulbs and the power has been transferred to a green electricity tariff.

Bistro Qui? joint owner Steven Slater devised the new colour scheme.

He said: "This is a drastic change for us as our Bistros have always had a deep red colour scheme and there is not a hint of red left.

"The green really fits in with what we are about as a company and is actually a very popular colour for restaurants in France.

"Not only does it look fresher but it signals the introduction of our environmental policy.

"The reaction from our customers has been really positive. They love the new look and are really supportive about the environmental changes we are making."

The Bistro Franc restaurant is on Hanover Street, Bistro Pierre is in the Cavern Quarter on Mathew Street and Bistro Jacques on Hardman Street.

All three have also switched to Phosphate-free detergent across their portfolio of restaurants and are now using recycled paper.

Mark Friend, Bistro Qui? joint owner, added: “Bistro Qui? is a family owned business and both Steven and I are parents. As such we wanted to make a personal commitment to the environment.

“The original idea for introducing an environmental policy actually came from my children who were studying the environment at school and were telling us about it around the dinner table.

“We are extremely proud of the achievements we have made so far and will continue to look for more ways that all our restaurants can be as green as possible.”
