A pair of record breakers from Liverpool, Tom Solomon and Gary Rothwell have proudly taken their place in the 2011 Guinness Book of Records, released today.
Professor Solomon, a 44 year old married dad-of-four and professor of Neurology at the University of Liverpool, managed to break the record for fastest marathon completion time dressed as a doctor on 25 April 2010.
He completed the 26.2-mile Virgin London Marathon in just 4 hours 21 minutes and 9 seconds to put his name in the book of records.
Liverpool's second representative in the 2011 edition is self employed Gary Rothwell, 41, of Symonds Wood.
On 18 April 1999, Mr Rothwell was dragged behind a motorcycle at 251.54 km/h (156.3 mph) on 2 mm (0.07 in) titanium-soled boots at the Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in Leicester.
He said: "I feel proud to have my name in the Guinness Book of Records, because there's not many people who can say they are in it.
"It's not the first record I have achieved, but it is the first one to enter the book of records, and I hope to make some additions soon."
Mr Rothwell retired from doing stunts in 2006 and opened a bike shop which closed the following year. This year, he has started practising, and is hoping to hold a few stunt shows in the near future.
He added: "I would love to do repeat the record again or better it very soon, I have even tried to get on to Top Gear and recently took part in some Moto GP."
Other successful stunt records broken include the world's fastest wheelie and most number of people performing a wheelie, with various positions (such as using feet to steer) attempted on bikes while performing stunts.
These additional records took place Circa 1999.
