Covergirls, Ladies, Gentlemen, Queens and Divas, the time has come to put YOUR fierceness to the test as House of Suarez invites you to take part in “RUNWAY” - The Justice Vogue Ball.
Taking place at Nation Club on Friday, 29 October “RUNWAY” – The Justice Vogue Ball - is THE competition to be a part of! Do you think that you have what it takes? If you know that you can work the Runway, please enter now!
Get yourselves on the floor in your best couture and prepare to set the catwalk on fire. There are 6 heats, before a distinguished panel of judges, all with cash prizes.
Every performer must belong to a "House" to compete. A House is a family of voguers with names taken either from haute couture designers (Houses of Chanel and Armani) or from the "Mother," the most powerful member of the family (as in the Houses of Pepper Labeija and Willi Ninja), a surrogate parent to the "ball children" who compete against one another for trophies. If you don’t belong to a house you are classed as an Orphan and can walk at the end of the show.
The categories are:
BIZARRE - Bizarre offers the widest range of creativity and display. From "Futuristic" to "Fantasy", the objective is to always present an elaborate costume and effect. We want club freaks, creatures and a whole new species of humanity to be born. Think Lady GaGa and Lady Bunny’s love child.
SOLOS - This section will give individuals the chance to show off their dance skills and work the Runway. Creativity is the key. Freestyle or set choreographed routine, themed or un-themed.
FEMME REALNESS -The aesthetic imperative of the ball culture, "Realness" is the ability to pass on the Runway as something you are not, as in rich for poor, female for male, straight for gay.
CLUB FREAK - The clubs and gay bars of Liverpool come head to head in this section to be crowned Club Freak of 2010. This section is open to solos and groups. Each club will show us just how freaky they can be through any artistic medium they choose.
EROTICA- This is strictly for the beautiful people. This section brings shallowness into fashion. You have to have the XXX factor for this section. If you think you’re hotter than the sun, then put on the tightest underwear you can find and show us what you got!
CHOREOGRAPHY - This section is one of the crowning glories of the ball. We want to see the best of all the Houses. We want to see Vicious Voguing, Wonderful Whacking, and Hardcore House dancing.
In addition, there will also be a competition to be OUTSTANDING HOUSE. House of Suarez wants to recognise the contribution of each competing house and so is proud to announce the opportunity for an extra cash prize for the title of “Outstanding House”.
This title is given to the House that shows full involvement and embraces most of the categories, if not all of them.
Contestants must adhere to the requirements of each individual category to avoid disqualification or ‘getting chopped’ (low scoring) before an eagerly cheering and jeering audience, a vicious “Gong Show", if you will.
Any group of people can enter from bar staff at one venue, to sales assistants at a shop to a group of friends, colleagues anyone! There is no limit to the number of sections one house can compete in. However, it will work better if you enter more sections, because this will add to the overall score and chance of winning the ultimate title and cash prize of Outstanding House.
Darren Suarez, Artistic Director of House of Suarez said ‘We want to see people from all walks of life and every scene taking part at the Vogue Ball, especially Liverpool’s very own gay quarter which has given House of Suarez so much support during the growth of the company.
"We want to create an environment that the LGB&T Community is proud of and feel that they can express themselves at. We want to see LGBT communities from across the country competing against each other."
