The new season beginning in September sees music from the leading roots singer and songwriter, Ian Parker (2nd Sept), Dean Friedman (23rd September), who is best known for a string of chart-topping hits including Lucky Stars, Lydia, Ariel, Woman of Mine and McDonalds Girl.

Folk is back to its best at Crosby Civic Hall with Oysterband (16th October), the English folk duo Spiers and Boden (19th October) and The Albion Band with their Christmas Show (20th December).

There is top quality comedy from TV's Sean Lock (25th October), Rich Hall (28th October) and Dara O' Briain (27th October) as part of Southport Comedy week.

The drama programme includes The Vagina Monologues (12th November) starring Nikki Sanderson (Coronation Street), Roxanne Pallett (Emmerdale & Dancing on Ice) and Sue Jenkins (Brookside).

For those who enjoy the classics there is an adaptation of Tess of The D'Urbervilles (10th November), for the girls, the hilarious comedy drama Naked Truth (21st November) with an all star cast including Maureen Nolan (Nolans), Claire King (Emmerdale & Bad Girls), Michelle Heaton (Liberty X) and Leanne Jones (Olivier award winning star of Hairspray).

And of course what season would be complete without Steven Berkoff with his one man show Shakespeare's Villains (13th November).

For the younger audience we have the magical tales of The Little Red Hen (16th October) and Giraffes Can't Dance (7th November), both are adaptations of best-selling children's books and will entertain little ones with music and laughter.

Some of the UK's finest author and poets including Frank Cottrell Boyce (6th November), Barry Cryer (6th November) Blake Morrison (11th November), Alexei Sayle (8th November), Brian Jacques (13th November) and many more feature as part of the Sefton Celebrates Writing Festival.
