Thousands of revellers took to the streets of Liverpool on Saturday to celebrate the city’s first ever Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender [LGB&T] Pride Festival Pride festival.
The city centre was transformed into a Rainbow Circus for a glittering street party filled with music, dance, cabaret and performances. Outrageous street performers paraded through the streets, with stilt walkers, jugglers and acrobats.
The party continued after dark with official after parties at Sakura, with Robin S whilst Chew Disco took over Puzzle Bar, Stanley St while Garlands and Gbar boasted fabulous DJ line ups which took the celebrations well into the early hours.
The festival was backed by Marie Causer, whose son Michael was murdered in a homophobic attack in August 2008.
She said: "It's fantastic that Liverpool Pride is happening. This gives LGBT people the chance to stand up and stand proud, to say that 'We are no different, we're not going anywhere, so people need to learn to live and let live'.
"There's no room for hatred in this city, so I hope everyone, gay or straight will come together to show their support."
