Budding photographers can get expert tuition and access to areas of Liverpool Cathedral normally closed to the public as part of a photography workshop.
Award-winning photographer Martin Birchall will be providing practical advice at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral on Monday 6th September (10am-1pm). Last year’s workshops sold out fast, and due to popular demand they are back for 2010.
Enthusiastic amateurs or absolute beginners will tour the building and learn how to compose pictures, to use natural light effectively, to experiment with depth of field and they will also receive tuition on the effective use of angles in shot selection.
Participants will have access to the Cathedral bells (the highest and heaviest peal of bells in the world), as well as many other key areas of the Cathedral.
The course begins at 10.00am with an informal introduction and morning tea or coffee followed by a full practical session until 1pm. Participants will need to bring their own equipment for the session, including a tripod if they have one.
The workshop costs £40 for a single place or £70 for a couple, including morning refreshments. To book, please contact shop@liverpoolcathedral.org.uk or phone 0151 702 7255.
Martin said: "Liverpool Cathedral offers so many different photo opportunities that it is the ideal place for photographers of any ability to hone their skills.
"The change in light at different times of the day produces some spectacular effects, and how to best capture this will be just one element of workshop.
"Every time I visit the cathedral I find a new perspective, composition or arrangement of light, and I hope that this course will encourage people to come back to the cathedral time and again to explore and capture its beauty."
