Sand and the seaside returned to St.Helens as "Summer Fun 2010" was declared officially open by the Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Neil Taylor and Ginny Taylor.

The launch in Church Square attracted an excitable crowd, eager to enjoy the opportunity to build sand castles, enjoy the rides, or quietly relax on a deckchair beneath the palm trees.

Seaside delights include children's rides, a trampoline, delicious ice creams and tasty candyfloss, and a giant inflatable slide. Additional family entertainment will be available: Punch & Judy (4th August & 25th August), Kids Playhouse Show (11th August) and the Climbing Wall (18th August).

Councillor Barrie Grunewald, Cabinet Member for Culture, Communications and Town Centre, said: “Summer Fun is a very good example of the exciting and innovative events that the Council is developing. The events aim to raise the profile and appeal of the Town Centre to residents, shoppers and visitors from across the region.”
