Beatles legend Paul McCartney surprised thousands of fans at London's Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park last night by joining headliner Neil Young for an impromptu duet.
Striding onstage for an encore rendition of the Sgt Peppers' anthem A Day In The Life, Young was quickly followed by its composer, who hugged the Canadian as they sang the song's middle section together.
Macca and Young then turned their attention to a nearby vibraphone after the song had finished, before throwing down their sticks and embracing.
The Beatle was generous in turning all the attention back on Young during the song and waving to the crowd to join in a sing song, albeit with some embarrasing looking, perhaps drunken dancing.
It is the first time the two singers have sung the song together live onstage, despite the fact that Young has often chosen to close his set with the Fab Four classic in recent years.
