Sound City explodes on to our streets today. Is it Liverpool's answer to the world-famous SXSW festival in Austin, Texas? Organiser Dave Pichilingi thinks so.

Only time will tell. But alongside the conferences and talks with the great and good of the music industry it is certainly the best chance to see up and coming bands on your doorstep.
