The Zutons set to romp at St George's Hall

The Zutons have just been announced as headliners for a special Liverpool SoundCity party - a Gaymers Grassroots gig – on Saturday 23rd May at the stunning St George's Hall.

Now in its second year, Gaymers Grassroots Gigs will send six bands back to their hometowns to perform an intimate one-off set in a local venue close to their heart.

It will be a very special hometown performance by the Zutons, who are currently back home writing their fourth album.

Dave McCabe, frontman of The Zutons said: "It's always a pleasure to play in Liverpool, the last two times we played here was at Anfield and the Arena.

"Anfield was boss, 'coz we got to meet Sir Paul and Dave Grohl, and my Ma got to meet Ricky Kaiser which was hilarious!

The Arena was mad as it was our own gig to cap the last tour off and it felt massive, in a good way. But I think this gig will be different 'coz of the intimacy of St George's.

"The last time we done something like this was in the Zanzibar, it's always fun to play smaller places it will be interesting and a good one to be at."

The Zutons will be one of only three acts to play at the prestigious St George's Hall in the past thirty years.

Ringo Starr played there in January 2008 and The Wombats performed there later that same year. Before Ringo's incredible show, St Georges Hall was last used for a gig in the 70s.

Other acts in the Gaymers Grassroots Gigs series include Starsailor, who will be performing a special set in Wigan. Further acts in the series will be announced in the coming weeks.
