Liverpool Sound City is much more than just a music festival, with movie screenings, photography exhibitions, and football tournaments all set to take place.

There are also over 60 speakers and 1000 delegates who will take part in the festival’s biggest music business conferences. The conferences will be held in the Hilton and Hard Day’s Night Hotels.

Leaders in the music business from all over the world have been invited to ensure that the minds of the city’s creative set are fed with exceptional knowledge.

Delegates include promoters, managers, record labels, booking agents and music media to name a few. Working in partnership with Musexpo, they have ensured the calibre of speakers and business delegates are second to none.

The keynote speaker at the conference is no other than the man who set up Sire Records, the legendary Seymour Stein. As well as signing the world’s most successful female artist Madonna, he also single-handedly changed the direction of garage bands.

Speakers also include Liverpool’s own iconic singer Ian McCulloch and front man from Echo and the Bunnymen and recently confirmed Alison Wenham of The Association of Independent Music and Scott Cohen & Richard Gottehrer of The Orchard.

FACT cinema will host 2 movie screenings with the UK premiere of The Other Side of Hip hop: The Sixth Element which details the life of hip hop photographer and author Ernie Paniccioli and also showing is Julien Temple’s Oil City Confidential portraying the life of Dr Feelgood.

Ernie Paniccioli will also hold an exhibition of his photographic work which runs at the old Rapid Hardware Store, Renshaw St for one month; celebrated Liverpool Photographer Mark McNulty will also be displaying an awe inspiring collection of his music work from the last 20 years. Screenadelica will also feature gig posters from some of the most influential designers from the USA and UK.

But back to the routes of the festival - live music. Gaymers will once again be the official cider of Liverpool Sound City and will host an incredibly exciting line up on the Gaymers Stage at the city’s legendary Heebie Jeebies.

The ever popular venue will play host to exclusive performances from Death of a Hero, The Ladykillers, Direwolfe, Fieldhouse and The Draymin, the line-up also includes many Liverpool based bands such as Terra Alpha, The Gutterfighters and Wonderlust.

Peter Spencer, MD Gaymers Cider Company Ltd said “2009 was a fantastic year and our continued support will make sure Liverpool Sound City is still the place to discover some of the hottest acts of the summer”.

Liverpool Sound City line-up is the best ever with Paloma Faith, Ian McCulloch, Delphic, The Maccabees, The Fall, Tinchy Stryder, Speech Debelle, Wild Beasts, Field Music, Los Campesinos, The Blackout, Wave Machines, The Sunshine Underground, Hot Club de Paris, Beth Jeans Houghton, Archie Bronson Outfit, Ian McNabb and Chilly Gonzalez - to name but a few all playing next week.
