The Black-E welcomes ‘Voices Across The Oceans’, a major international music collaboration for a performance of some of the finest music from the continent and the African Diaspora music this month.
‘Voices Across The Oceans’ is the touring a cappella theatrical production organised by The Centre for Music and Arts Technology (CMAT).
Staged and directed by Antoinette Lester, ‘Voices Across the Oceans’ brings together the inter-continental amazing talents of Maureen Lilanda (Zambia), Nawal (Comoros/France) and Birmingham’s Black Voices a cappella group.
‘Voices Across The Oceans’ is the first of many exciting musical performances The Black-E has lined up for 2010 and will take place in their brand new Main Space performance room.
Vocal workshops for adults and teenagers will also be conducted by the performers of ‘Voices Across The Oceans’ making it an enjoyable event for the whole family as well as the Black community, Women’s groups and anybody within the city who has an interest in vocal music – especially a cappella.
Sally Morris, Co-Director from The Black-E commented “We are delighted to welcome Black Voices to The Black-E again. It will be a privilege to have these internationally renowned performers as our guests. The production is amazing and includes a female griot linking the music of the seven singers and their challenging and diverse music about universal peace. Occasional percussive rhythms will weave its way through the finest a cappella harmonies to celebrate the beauty of the human voice.”
