Liverpool trio Kush will be performing at the Jar Music Live night at the Cavern Club on Friday 19th February 2010, doors open at 7pm.

In the last eighteen months this Liverpool rock power trio has been making a name as a guitar band with big ideas.

They’ve set local rock venues alight with searing Hendrix inspired lead guitar, guttural blues riffs and highly original vocal raps.

Kush have also dipped their toes considerably into the world of the mainstream having produced a critically acclaimed prog rock pastiche of Cilla's #1 60s hit ‘You’re my World’ with local pop princess Natasha Hamilton.

They have also performed at the Echo Arena in front of a sell-out crowd as house band for some of Liverpool’s most legendary artists and performers.

As well as all of this they have forged an unlikely mutual appreciation society with boxing legends and big guitar and music lovers Joe and Enzo Calzaghe.

Recalling how Kush met the Calzaghes’ Bass player Paul McBride says ‘We were invited to play an after show party for the Sports Personality of the Year when it was held at the Liverpool arena. Being a big fan of Joe and Enzo, Kirkland dedicated a blues classic "Goin' Down" to the Calzaghes in attendance.'

This lead to an infamous free form blues jam with all the Calzaghes joining the stage.

To the delight of the audience they displayed some amazing blues guitar, ending with a guitar duel between Kush front man and legendary boxing trainer Enzo.

Kush songs "Tao" and "No Change" as well as their blistering rendition of Blues classic "Goin’ Down" can be heard on Universal Pictures release "Joe Calzaghe - My Life Story".

The film also features a retirement tribute song to Britain's most successful boxer ever, written and performed by The Calzaghes feat. Kush and produced by Kush front man Kirkland.

The band are currently putting the finishing touches to their first album. Which sees Kush rewrite the rule book with a combination of rock, blues, reggae, dance, classical and jazz, weaving them together seamlessly into 10 modern meaningful songs “about people and for people”
