The 02 Academy in Liverpool is set to rock out in the name of charity next month.
Liverpool Unites, a charity which was founded after the tragic death of Rhys Jones, is the chosen charity and all the money raised will go to help support local charities and community groups that aim to positively engage children and young people by inspiring them to break the cycle of crime and poverty, giving them hope, purpose and ambition for a brighter future.
Inspired by the way Everton and Liverpool football fans united in respect for Everton fan Rhys and his family, Liverpool Unites represents the way that the city comes together to conquer advertisity. The charity's symbol - the purple ribbon - the purple representing the combination of the blue and red of the two Merseyside football clubs.
Liverpool Unites successfully raised its initial target of £100,000 for the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund through the help and support of the people of Merseyside.
The line-up which is to be held on Tuesday 15th December 2009 includes Adult by Accident, Hippys on the Hill, The Hutts, Elderside and The Stigs who are all local bands from Liverpool.
