
An electric air of anticipation lit up the night sky as Cream opened the doors at Nation for their 17th birthday celebrations.
Clubbers had descended on Liverpool from across the country to celebrate that night in 1993 when James Barton and co first took to the decks and the now infamous Cream trispan logo was born.
Fast forward nearly two decades and try to think of any other Liverpool music event which could hope to attract this level of fever?
Fans in fancy dress and dressed to kill were still queueing around the block on to Slater Street at 1am as the healiners took to the stage.
Cream are back on top form after selling out Creamfields, their birthday bash and with a killer line up for Liverpool Music Week and their Boxing Night bash including Calvin Harris, music fans in Liverpool have plenty to be proud of them for.
Eric Prydz brought the house down with a lightning paced set and an amazing green lazer light show to match.
This managed to console the clubbers who couldn't get into the courtyard to watch Deadmau5 in action, unfortunately including our photographer (hence no pics of his white Mau5head).
But we did have a pair of peepers trained on the Canadian super-producer turned DJ who had to remove his trademark costume after five minutes ... because of the immense body heat.
Either that or it was all the love in the air.
Cream maybe 17 years old, but in terms of producing killer line-ups, showmanship and mass fan appeal, the Liverpool superbrand are proving that they are just coming of age.
