Echo and the Bunnymen's tenth studio album, The Fountain hits record shops today. It's the Liverpool legends first offering in over three years and has garnered favourable reviews from the music press.
They are marking the release by embarking on a transatlantic tour that will see the post-punk band play more than twenty five dates before climaxing in Liverpool in the middle of December.
Charasmatic front man Ian McCulloch will also travel, accompanied by Bunnymen co-founder Will Sergeant, to Dubai during this period to help promote Liverpool Sound City.
The lead single from the album, "I think I need it to", has gained considerable airplay and there's hope this album could break into the UK's top ten this coming Sunday.
There is assured confidence from inside the band's camp. McCulloch demonstrated his trademark cockiness when talking to online music magazine Spinner last week.
The singer said: "I won't say that it's the best album ever made, but it's one of the best we've made with this one I feel the words and I really feel like I've got something to say".
The Bunnymen marked their 30 year anniversary by playing a series of special gigs last year where they perfomred their classic 1984 album Ocean Rain in it's entirerity with a full orchestra.
They play the Manchester Ritz tomorrow evening, tickets are available from http://ticketsuk.at/clickliverpool/1F0042FDEAA3749B.html
The Fountain is available for £7.98 at Amazon.
