A double-header at Leaf sees US indie-rock singer songwriter Damien Jurado paired up with fellow countrymen, Americana-esqu psych-folk heroes Megafaun.

Damien Jurado is currently touring his tenth studio LP, the critically acclaimed Maraqopa, released through long-term label Secretly Canadian, who count The War on Drugs, Yeasayer and Animal Collective amongst their signings.

An excellent singer-songwriter, Jurado pushes the sonic envelope using found sounds and field recordings, to create his own niche.

Formerly part of DeYarmond Edison, a band that featured none other than Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon, psych-folk group Megafaun released their well-received self-titled album last year.

Like their former colleague, the band are steeped in rustic Americana (CSNY, Grateful Dead, Gram Parsons) as well as bringing their own beguiling weirdness to proceedings.

Harvest Sun explain their excitment at this forthcoming gig:

"Back in 2009 we hosted, what is still one of the finest gigs we've yet to host as John Grant played a very intimate warm up gig on the Thursday before his Green Man Festival appearance.

"18th August sees us host a double bill before their own GM Festival appearance, which could quite easily top that night, as DAMIEN JURADO and MEGAFAUN take to the stage at Leaf on Bold Street.

"We're very excited about this, Damien's newest LP, Maraqopa, has been a constant on the Harvest Sun Jukebox since its release back in February, it's a pretty beautiful album for want of a better word.

"We can say pretty much the same about Megafaun's self-titled 4th effort from last year, it soundtracked many a back-yard throw-away BBQ. Americana-esque Psych-Folk in all its glory."
