With her new album Virtue picking up outstanding reviews, Emmy The Great heralds the start of an extensive tour with the release of a new single on September 19th. The tour heads to Liverpool's Stanley Theatre on 7th October.

New single, Paper Forest (In the Afterglow of Rapture), Emmy explains, was inspired by the finale of a Patti Smith song which talks about being ‘blessed amongst all women’, and a classical quote, learned through Sylvia Plath, that 'character is fate'.

These encapsulated her situation at the time – a period of security and engagement that she felt disconnected from and thought that, through the quirks in her character, would self-destruct.

As the follow up to her equally critically acclaimed debut First Love, Virtue began as a series of stories Emmy embarked on after the disintegration of her engagement - her fiancé left her for the church.

Drawing on symbols borrowed from fairy tales and mythology, she added the icons that have replaced them in our modern consciousness to create a record that’s made her feel like a person and that she hopes will speak to others who’ve endured and survived.
