Liverpool radio station, Radio City 96.7 is in the running for two of the biggest gongs in the industry, after picking up two nominations for the prestigious Sony Radio Awards this year.
The North West region has successfully outdone its London radio counterparts bagging heavy-weight nominations in arguably some of the most competitive and sought after award categories.
Radio City’s late night talk show host, Pete Price has been nominated for Speech Radio Personality of the Year, and Radio City 96.7 has also been nominated for highly regarded Station of the Year award, in the category for radio stations with over 1 million listeners.
The Sony Awards, radio’s equivalent of ‘The Oscars’ is a highly respected accolade in the industry - with the BBC dominating the finalists and hundreds of entries for each category, it is a major achievement to be nominated.
The nomination for Station of the Year is a testament for everyone who works at Radio City and it is deserved recognition for Pete and his Producer Jonathan to be shortlisted for Speech Radio Personality of the Year.
They face stiff competition in their category from Danny Baker, Frank Skinner, Nicky Campbell and Stephen Nolan, who have also been nominated.
Programme Controller at Radio City, Euan McMorrow, said: We work tirelessly 365 days a year to provide the best possible radio station for the people in Liverpool and the North West.
"For Radio City 96.7 and Pete Price to be recognised for doing this at the highest possible level is fantastic.
"Not enough trophies have come to Liverpool this year, let’s hope we can put that right!"
The awards will be announced at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Monday 9th May.
